![]() Everyone wants a bathroom that makes you go WOW. If you watch HGTV or other shows, you know that some bathrooms have eye-catching style and some are lame. One of the keys to giving a bathroom pop or style is the accent tile.
The accent tile is the decorative tile that is usually on the back wall of the shower, behind the bathtub, and sometime on the wall behind the toilet. This strip of tile is usually 1 to 6 inches wide and is there to catch the eye.
In a basic tile bathroom you have:
· Tile for the floor that is not slippery when wet (usually a non-glossy finish)
· Tile around the bath/shower that is glossy so it will stay clean and resist stains.
This bathroom may have standard wood trim.
The next upgrade is usually tile trim that extends the tile partially up the wall. The higher the tile extends, the more expensive and nicer the bathroom feels.
The next upgrade after trim is usually accent tile with a cool pattern that blends with the standard tile.
