DIY and Pro Help With Your Home Projects
![]() Craftsmen Style houses were typically built by a group of craftmen that put a lot of exceptional character and attention to detail in every home. Unlike most homes built today, everyone is different. Some of my favorite architectural details are: *Stone foundations *Butlers pantries *Window seats *Box beam ceilings *Unique windows with smaller panes of glass on the top section. These could be small squares or diamonds *Hardwood floor (frequently heart-of-pine) *High ceiling (ranging from 8-14 feet) *Exceptional moldings (usually stained) *Cedar shake exteriors *Original tube-and-knob wiring On the down side, these original homes had microscopic closets and probably only 1 bathroom for the entire house. The kitchen was also small and unusable by today's standards. The information on this site is provided for reference only and is provided "AS IS", "AS AVAILABLE" with no guarantee of accuracy.
