![]() The tolerance for error is much less with European (Frame-less) cabinets so they will take more time. What You Need Tools: Screwdriver, jigsaw with wood cutting blade, power drill with 3/16 bit, utility knife, hammer, level, clamps, ladder Materials: Cabinets, toe-kick molding, trim molding, and filler strips. 1: Prepare the walls by filling in any holes and sanding down any high spots on the wall surfaces. 2: Using an electronic stud-finder, locate and mark all the wall studs in the area. 3: Find the highest point on the floor and measure up 34½ inches from this point and mark a level line across the entire wall area for base cabinets. 4: From the highest floor point measure up 84 inches and draw a level line across the walls to be your reference line for the wall cabinets. 5: Then measure 30 inches down from top reference line to mark and create a third reference line. Install a 1x3 temporary wood ledger along the third reference line for cabinets to rest upon during installation. 6: Start in a corner and place corner cabinet on ledger, drill pilot holes into studs through hanging strips at the back of the cabinet. 7: Attach cabinet to wall with sheet-metal screws but do not tighten fully until all cabinets are placed and hung. 8: If needed, attach a filler strip on the side of cabinet by first clamping firmly into place and creating pilot holes, then screwing the filler strip on with sheet-metal screws. 9: Put the adjoining cabinet on the ledger tight against the corner cabinet, and check the front frame to ensure the cabinet faces are plumb. Attach cabinet to wall studs through hanging strip in back with pilot holes, but do not tighten fully. 10: Clamp the two cabinets together, and attach the cabinets together from inside frame. Each cabinet should be attached to its adjoining cabinet with at least four screws. 11: Fill any small spaces between cabinets and/or walls with filler strips to hide empty space by first wedging strip into place and attaching to the side of the cabinet with sheet metal screws. 12: After all cabinets have been hung in place and adjusted for evenness, tighten all the wall screws completely 13: Remove the temporary ledger and use trim moldings to cover any gaps. 14: Install all cabinet doors and adjust for proper opening and closing and finally clean all ledger lines from walls.
